PRECISION RIFLE COURSE (if applicable):
Rifle systems (scoped) should already have the capability of easily hitting a full-size silhouette at 100 YARDS BEFORE attending this course. Bi-pod equipped. Know the twist direction of your rifle (ex. 1:10 Right hand twist, 1:11 Left hand twist…check with the manufacturer if in doubt).
All rifles, if newly purchased, should have already completed their barrel break in process. Please contact us with any questions regarding proper break in process.
Any rifle cleaning regimens required by the student will be adhered to. Ex. Clean the barrel after 30 rounds are expended. Please have a proper cleaning kit with extra of cleaning supplies
Ammunition minimal needs: 100 rounds. Bring 200 rounds, if possible, just in case This is not a quantity fired course, it's a quality fired course. Ammunition needs to be of superior grade. Any match grade ammunition designed for accuracy. Federal Gold Medal 168gr is the STANDARD all other ammo is judged by. NO ARMOR PIERCING OR TRACER ROUNDS PERMITTED. Ammunition will not be provided.
SCOPE & MOUNT. Due to the nature of this course, we will be establishing real world groupings. Scope Mounts MUST be durable, preferable of mil-spec quality. This is not a course for Amazon specials. QD mounts, while handy, will only cause a precision shooter frustration violating the Consistency Rule. Solid mounts are key. A high-quality scope with no less than fixed 10x magnification, or 3-12x variable magnification. An illuminated reticle is always preferred. Parallax adjustment is highly recommended.
This is an all-weather day on the range. Consider:
-
Headgear. A Boonie style hat that keeps the sun off your neck is HIGHLY recommended.
-
Ground cover. A shooting mat, small mud mat, or something to lie on. Padding is always a plus. Especially nice if its raining.
-
Pads and Bags. Used to stead the rifle in the prone position in addition to mounted bi-pods.
-
Rifle cover. Something to cover the rifle in the event of rain.
-
Collared shirt. I can assure you that if it's sunny out, you will be popping your collars to keep the sun off your neck.
-
Rain gear.
-
Hearing and eye protection.
-
Spotting Scope (optional)
-
Chamber flags. If you don't have one, we will be providing one. EVERY RIFLE ON THE LINE WILL BE CHAMBER FLAGGED BEFORE WE GO DOWN RANGE.
-
Flashlight.
Weather and temps in Maine vary, please pack for temperature ranges from below freezing weather to temps over 70 degrees!
